Haiti - Diaspora : A fraudster pretends to be a Haitian diplomat

Jean-Claude Jr. Dimanche (36) of Haitian origin, was convicted of fraud and possession of illegally obtained credit cards, that he would have used to purchase in the Shopping center "The DIX30" in Brossard (Qc.)

Before the crown prosecutor of Longueuil, the accused claimed to be an agent of the Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal and filed a letter with the seal of the Consulate as evidence. This allowed the accused to receive a more lenient sentence so he can avoid a criminal record and continue his diplomatic work.

But verification made, the registered letter proved false.

In a note, the Consul General of Haiti, Kurdy Larèche brought a categorical denial on the false statements of this fraudster "Mr. Jean Claude Jr. Dimanche, who introduced himself as a consular officer is not working on behalf of the Consular Mission [...] he does not have the status of Haitian diplomat and never worked at the Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal in the past. Also, the Consulate reiterates its willingness to cooperate with justice so that all light be shed on this affair."

The Consulate of Haiti in Montreal reminds all those tempted to use the name of the Consulate in favor of their personal interests, that justice will be seized in accordance with the laws governing the matter.
