As part of the French humanitarian aid of emergency against the cholera epidemic in Haiti, the Crisis Centre of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, in conjunction with the Establishment of Preparedness and Response to Health Emergencies, provides specific material assistance to Haiti's State University Hospital, Portau-Prince.

The Quai d'Orsay sent by plane in Haiti, this week, medicines, medical care material, of hygiene and protection of medical staff as well as disinfectants intended for the Haiti's State University Hospital.

This hospital, the largest in the country and has been heavily damaged by the earthquake of January is being rehabilitated through cooperation between France and the United States in accordance with the commitments of the President of the Republic to help the reconstruction of Haiti.

Sending to the State University Hospital of the specific emergency assistance is in addition to actions taken by France, along with Haitian authorities to combat the cholera epidemic, including medical missions conducted by experts in the fight against this disease and the device aid in favor of local structures of early childhood.

To answer the call of the Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva, which asked the Member States of the European Union to provide in-kind assistance to the Haitian authorities, the French authorities reported that sending the to the Monitoring and Information Centre (MIC) of the Directorate General of ECHO. This mechanism, activated from November 5, established by the European Commission, allow to pooling the air transportation set up by the Member States to transport emergency aid to Port-au-Prince and coordinate the activities of Europeans in Haiti to cope with the increase of cholera.
