Friday morning at the corner of streets Gabart and Rebecca (Petion-ville) near Caribe Tour, the former Director General of National Press of Haiti, and former director of the Haitian Bureau of Copyright (BHDA), Me Whilem Edouard was shot dead by gunmen, traveling in motorcycles, according to testimony.

Mortally wounded the victim died on the scene.

In a note the BHDA expresses its sorrow and condolences The Haitian Bureau of Copyright is the sadness and regret to announce the death of a colleague and friend Willems Edouard [...] He was a colleague with a heart appreciated by everyone, each person with whom he worked will retain of him a lasting memory. The BHDA as a whole presents to his family and to his relatives its deepest condolences.

Holder of a license of the Faculty of Law and Economics, he was also the holder of a Master in Cultural Management (Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle / FIC). He led the National Press of Haiti for 7 years. Before being shot, he worked as a consultant and advocate with the BHDA and had a column in a Haitian newspaper.
