Friday, July 29, following the partial collapse and closing on March 18 of the bridge over the river Grise at Duvivier (Road #9), connecting the West department at Great North took place the official opening of the new steel bridge, which will facilitate the movement, greatly affected in the zone since the bridge closure.

This new infrastructure estimated to just over $ 1.2 million in modular steel structures (imported) was assembled and installed by the Haitian company Vorbe & Fils. It is a metal structure 61 meters of range, divided into two spans of 30.5 meters and a width for the passage of vehicles of 7.40 meters. A pedestrian bridge of 1.30 meters wide is attached to the bridge, the latter having a carrying capacity of 60 tons (3 times superior to previous bridge).

The engineer Grelon Jean-Pierre specifies that this metal bridge must be subject to regular maintenance (the old bridge had not been maintained), in order to check the welds and bolts, to prevent the premature deformation of steel structures.

Jean Hislain Fréderic, the new mayor of the commune of Cité Soleil, suggesting the central authorities to take measures to tax all vehicles and heavy vehicles crossing the bridge in order to release funds for maintenance of the new bridge .
