Haiti - Elections : For Robert Simonise, Edmond Mulet

The statements of Edmond Mulet, Representative of the Secretary General of the Organization of the United Nations and head of Minustah, according to which, UN will leave Haiti, and the international will no longer provide any aid to Haiti if the will of the people was not met, continue to fuel the reactions.

Jean Robert Simonise, University Professor and Mozart De Ronneth, political scientist, both emphasize that the UN diplomat has overstepped his role by deciding on the retention or departure of the UN mission in Haiti.

According to Mr. Simonise, "for make such statements, it is necessary to make a consultation between the leaders of all countries concerned by the United Nations presence in Haiti," he believes that the diplomat "would had lost the North" in frolnt the failure on the election day, whereas, he had never ceased saying that everything would be okay.

Mr. Mulet is accused of ignoring the Haitian authorities, as part of a whole set of decisions. Thus, he announced before the Haitian government that elections would be held on November 28...

Mozart De Ronneth, believe that the statements of Mr. Mulet should not be taken seriously. This is "pressures to adopt its own formula: the arbitrary designation of candidates to go in the second turn." "Mr. Mulet is not the security council is a mere employee of the UN," he recalled. Noting that the position of M Mulet, is at odds with that of Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, who recently acknowledged that the last election was riddled with irregularities and fraud and that the UN was prepared to help the country after these elections. On the other hand, le political scientist remains convinced of the interest of the United Nations to direct the voting results in a definite direction.
