Since the threats of financial isolation of Haiti, in cases where a set of concrete measures, would not be in place by November, on the fight against money laundering https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18457-haiti-flash-the-situation-is-critical-transfers-and-haitian-banking-system-threatened.html , the Haitian Government under pressure, seeks to implement these measures and to eliminate all risks, which could expose it to possible sanctions.

To this end and in this context, Yves Romain Bastien, the Minister of Economy and Finance, whose the Ministry supervises the International Financial Centre of the Island of La Gonâve, created by decree dated December 9, 2015 and published in Le Moniteur on Thursday, January 7, 2016, "inform all those interested in the subject in particular that, by decision of the Council of Ministers, held on 30 August the following actions were taken:

1. Suspension of all activities that should lead to the formal establishment of the said Centre ;

2. Submission to Parliament of a bill relating the decree of 9 December 2015;

3. Decree relating the appointment of the Director General of the Centre.

All measures taken or authorizations in connection with the establishment of the Centre are therefore null and void."
