Monday to the bas Canapé-Vert, the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, Minister of National Education, proceeded to the inauguration of the reconstruction of the National School Republic of the United States, in the presence of the Ambassador of Switzerland in Port-au-Prince, Jean-Luc Virchaux, the Director of the institution, Ms. Magalie Georges, faculty and students of the institution.

In her speech, Magalie Georges, welcomed the government's efforts which, with the support of the Swiss Cooperation in Haiti, offered the students an attractive environment and spacious, symbol of the new spirit that should animate faculty and the school kids.

The Ambassador of Switzerland, said that this school is one of 12 reconstruction projects led by the Swiss Cooperation in Haiti. While praising the quality of construction that meets seismic standards, Jean-Luc Virchaux asked teachers and students to make it a place of excellence.

For his part Jocelerme Privert remains convinced "[...] that a good youth education ensures the development of a country. For this, we must take action to provide the country with adequate school infrastructure and quality education, while improving the living conditions of teachers."

The National School Republic of the United States, funded by the Swiss Cooperation to the tune of over 70 million gourdes (70, 269,934.89) rebuilt on an area of 992 m2, now has 14 classrooms with a capacity to host 960 pupils (double shifts), 70 preschool students and about 29 teachers.

The school includes among other : a library, a computer room, a water tank with a capacity of 13.500 gallons, modern sanitary room, a dining hall and a multi-sports field.

The work that lasted 20 months have been directed by the Haitian construction firm "ENCONTRA".
