Friday, the National Directorate of Book (DNL) has launched the literary contest "National Prize Jacques Stephen Alexis (JSA) of the Novel" with a price of 200,000 gourdes.

This prize that intends to perpetuate the memory and work of JSA (native of Gonaives 1922-1961), aims to reward an emerging feather in the field of fictional creation (Creole or French) and also promote the winning work in the need to encourage young writers to revisit the major works of our greatest novelists, including Jacques Stephen Alexis which marked the annals of Haitian literature with his novels : "Compère général soleil" (1955) ; "Les Arbres musiciens" (1957) ; L'Espace d'un cillement (1959), "Romancero aux étoiles" (1960), Collection "L'Imaginaire", Paris, Gallimard.

This contest is open to Haitians of both genders living in Haiti or abroad.

Prize of 200,000 gourdes and 500 printed copies of the novel.

Award ceremony in December 2016, on the occasion of the International Book Fair of Haiti (FILHA)

Date for submission of manuscripts : September 9 to October 7, 2016
