Haiti - Elections : Michel Martelly appealed for calm and vigilance

The candidate Martelly denounced Wednesday afternoon, in a short speech broadcasted on FM signal, the results "incorrect" and rejected the "violence" while thousands of his supporters manifest throughout the country.

"People of Haiti, since Tuesday evening, the CEP [the Provisional Electoral Council] threw the country into crisis with incorrect results. Since, the country is stood up to make respect the popular vote", declared Michel Martelly.

The international community, national and international observers recognize that these results are not good," said the candidate. "I understand your anger. Demonstrate without violence is a right of the people" before launching an appeal to its supporters asking them to be "vigilant against attempts of infiltration and provocation."

Recall that the preliminary results of the first round of elections, have excluded of the second round, the candidate Michel Martelly (21.84% and 234.617 votes) "Repon Peyizan" in favor of the government candidate, Jude Célestin (22.48% and 241.462) "INITE" with only 6.845 votes of difference (0.64%) amid fraud and irregularities.
