Haiti - FLASH : Matthew, the situation across the country

Over much of the country, the passage of Hurricane Matthew, causes a lot of damage, destroyed homes, livestock swept away, destroyed plantations, floods, flooded rivers... in summary, here is the the situation in various locations.

In the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, the rain and wind currently increasing since this morning, trees fell to Fermathe blocking the route to Kenskoff, electrical cables are in trouble on the road of Thomassin. In Nouvelle Touraine (Kenscoff) many home were destroyed, livestock died. The river Grise is in high agitation, in flood, and the current is huge, please do not attempt the crossing.

At Pestel Adventist church is destroyed, the National School is partially damaged, many house are flooded.

In Dame Marie lot of property damage and roofs swept away as well as flood.

At Port-à-Piment more than 10 houses destroyed.

At L'Asile houses washed away, damage to plantations and cattle swept away

Heavy rain and strong winds in La Victoire, the roof of the National School Fontaine carried away by the winds.

The city of Belle-Anse is flooded because of the sea level has risen.

In Jacmel National School Breman, a temporary shelter has been damaged, the roof sheets were torn off by the wind.

In Port-Salut, flooding of the beach of Pointe Sable by rising sea level, the beach does not exist for the moment.

In Dumont, gardens and livestock destroyed.

At Tiburon several houses destroyed. The sea is in the city.

At Anse à Veau, the Sea entered the bottom of the city. Several houses were destroyed.

At Haut Jaboin, 5 houses destroyed, 1 dead, a sick person who has not had time to evacuate his house before the sea did invade it.

At Coteaux, the sea is on the boulevard Saint-Pierre, the houses on the coast are damaged or destroyed.

At Roche à Bateau it is reported houses destroyed.

At Carpentier, collapse of a house balance a pregnant woman wounded seriously with two other children.

In Jérémie many roofs were swept, sea rose.

The number of displaced at national level amounted to over 9,000.

Communication difficulties are reported on the Digicel network with Les Cayes and Jérémie.
