Haiti - Cuba : The Cuban Government requests the support of Haiti

Thursday, in preparation for the holding of the 71st UN General Assembly on October 26, the Ambassador of Cuba in Haiti, Luis Castillo Campos, presented at a press conference the report on the damage caused by the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed against Cuba by the United States since February 3, 1962.

This conference to which was also attended Marc Aurèle Garcia, the Minister of Culture and Communication, andNécaire Grégoire, the Director General of the Ministry was an opportunity for the Ambassador to present the history of the blockade and remember that this blockade is the main obstacle to normalization, even gradual, of relations between the two countries. For the Cuban Ambassador, the blockade maintained primarily by the US Congress made the American people also suffer.

Luis Castillo Campos believes that "The blockade against Cuba should be lifted in an unconditional and unilateral manner. The blockade remains the biggest obstacle to the development of the full potential of the Cuban economy and the well-being of the population as well as the development of economic, commercial and financial of Cuba with the US and the world."

While thanking the Government of Haiti of having consistently supported Cuba in its struggle for the lifting of the blockade, Cuba rely once again on Haitian support in different instances where this point will be discussed, including the General Assembly of the United Nations, before which the Cuban government will present once again its draft resolution, on 26 October.

Recall that in 2015, for the 24th consecutive time, the UN General Assembly voted y a majority to lift the blockade of Cuba.
