Haiti - Politic : Venezuela proposed to the UN a solidarity plan with Haiti

Thursday, at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in New York on the sidelines of a high-level meeting on the situation in Haiti Post-Matthew, Delcy Rodríguez Venezuelan Foreign Minister, after a meeting with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Prime Minister of Haiti, representatives of the Group of 77 (developing countries), China and the Caribbean Community (Caricom) announced that Venezuela had proposed the UN to create a solidarity plan with Haiti, which would support social development and infrastructure in Haiti, after the devastating passage of Hurricane Matthew.

This projetc of solidarity plan with Haiti is an initiative of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, already presented to the 3rd Summit of the habitat in Quito (Ecuador), in which he said the project aimed to provide concrete support "that will be added to physical efforts, material and financial for the reconstruction of Haiti."

The solidarity plan will also enable develop special events Haiti to accelerate the restructuring process.

Following the disaster caused by the hurricane, Venezuela has sent more than 1,000 tons of relief supplies to Haiti, including heavy machinery to remove rubble, clearing roads and rehabilitate destroyed or damaged infrastructure.
