Haiti - Politic : The Minister of Interior interpellated by the Senate

6 senators close to PHTK (Carl Murat Cantave, Edwin Zenny, Youri Latortue, Hervé Fourcand, Onondieu Louis and Jean-Renel Sénatus) decided to interpellate their former colleague François Anick Joseph, now Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities. They accuse him of lying to the Assembly about the presence of Dominican soldiers on Haitian soil and of mismanagement of humanitarian aid. Recall that the Dominican military had sole mission to protect the Dominican aid convoy, of the fact that the Haitian authorities were not able to guarantee the safety of the convoy. These soldiers stayed just 24 hours in Haiti, before returning to their country.

In a letter addressed to Minister Joseph, Ronald Larèche, Senate President explains and informs

"[...]

Mr François Anick Joseph

Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities

In your office,

Minister,

Following a joint correspondence of six senators and with reference to prescribed sections 128 and following of the 1987 Constitution amended, it was decided to interpellate you in plenary session Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.

The signatories senators of the said correspondence intend to question you on your mismanagement in relation to damage caused by Hurricane Matthew and for perjurers because they feel that you lied to the nation in front of the assembled of Senators at your last meeting dated October 11, 2016 [...]"

On Wednesday, the Minister will have to answer questions from senators, who will end either by a vote of censure or a vote of confidence. However, the Minister François Anick Joseph knows he will not risk much, because to be removed from office, it takes a censure motion passed with a majority of 16 senators, otherwise he will remain at his post...
