Over 30 international players from the best football teams in the world gathered yesterday for the Match Against Poverty, hosted this year by the Football Club Olympiacos Piraeus, Greece. Revenues from this match are intended to victims of natural disasters in Haiti and Pakistan.

The friendly match is part of an annual series aimed at reducing poverty and achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals.

This match was between the friends of Zinedine Zidane to those of the legendary Brazilian striker, Ronaldo. If Zidane regaled the spectators once again, Ronaldo, injured, had to settle this year to watch the selection led bythe former playmaker of the "Bleus", face to a selection of current and former players of Olympiakos. On the lawn of the Karaiskaki Stadium, front of 30.000 spectators, the Greeks were able to admire Darko Kovacevic, Christian Karembeu, Ronald de Boer, ou les encore actifs Yaya Touré, Raúl Albiol, Mahamadou Diarra and Nikopolidis.

During the match which finished with a score of 2-2 Ricardo Sá Pinto has offered a double, just as Kostas Mitroglou.

Among the participants appear : Zinédine Zidane (France), Ronaldo (Brazil), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), Pedro Pauleta, Fernando Couto, Sá Pinto, Luís Boa Morte et Nuno Gomes (Portugal), Pavel Nedved (Czech Republic), Pierre Van Hooijdonk, Ronald de Boer and Gio Van Bronckhorst (Netherlands), Gheorghe Popescu (Romania), Luciano da Silva, William and Sonny Anderson (Brazil), Raúl Albiol (Spain), Mahmadou Diarra (Mali) and Sabri Lamouchi (France) who will play for the team of the Friends of Ronaldo and Zidane. The current and former players of the Olympiacos will constitute the formation All-Star of the Olympiacos. S.A.
