In a note, the diplomatic corps accredited in Haiti (Core Group) congratulates the newly elected President of Haiti Jovenel Moïse and encourages all actors to work constructively towards the completion of the electoral cycle.

"Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the other members of the “Core Group” (the Ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, the United States of America and the European Union, and the Special Representative of the Organization of American States) take note of the publication of the final results of the 20 November 2016 Presidential and partial Senate elections and congratulate President-elect Jovenel Moïse.

The “Core Group” welcomes the leadership of the process provided by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and encourages all actors to respect the final results and to work constructively toward the peaceful completion of the electoral cycle, in keeping with the provisions of the Electoral Decree and the established calendar.

The members of the “Core Group” look forward to the inauguration of the President-elect on 7 February and to working with the new administration in effective partnership in the interest of the people of Haiti."
