Haiti - NOTICE : Operation of a broadcasting station

Jean Marie Altema, Director General of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) reminded everyone that "in accordance with the provisions of Article 13 of the Decree of 12 October 1977 granting the Haitian State a monopoly on telecommunications services, the establishment and operation of a broadcasting station (radio or TV) on Haitian territory, are subject to obtaining a broadcasting concession issued by the Haitian State via CONATEL, following the authorization issued by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities (MICT)."

Jean Marie Altema wishes to point out that "The authorization issued by the MICT does not authorize its holder to open a broadcasting station. Licenses for the use of frequencies are granted exclusively by CONATEL, the Regulatory Body for the Telecommunications Sector, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 114 and 115 of the aforementioned Decree.

Consequently, all stations operating outside these established standards are considered as illegal to the term of Article 19 of the Decree and the Directorate General of CONATEL invites interested parties to contact it for all legal and administrative suites."
