An investigation by the Canadian government, which began after the first suspicions of fraud in 2015, just revealed that the Embassy of Canada in Haiti had been the victim of fraud between 2004 and 2016 for an estimated amount of nearly $2 million.

Among the techniques used by fraudsters, the investigation revealed, among other things, overcharged amounts at the mission, theft of goods stored in Ambassade's premises, embezzlement of goods for the mission and collusion between employees and businesses.

Following this investigation, according to our sources at least 15 employees of the Embassy, locally hired would have been fired. The administrative inquiry is continuing. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) could in turn investigate these frauds, which could lead to criminal charges.
