The DNCD (Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas) in coordination with the Dominican General Directorate of Customs and the support of the judicial authorities, proceeded to the arrest of two Haitians, a woman and a man who tried to introduce into their luggage, via the Customs of Dajabon, 9 drug packets, presumably marijuana, of a preliminary estimated weight to 74 pounds.

The Haitians were arrested by the authorities in the goods verification area, in the presence of a deputy prosecutor after the discovery of the drugs in their luggage. It is the suspect behavior of the woman who alerted the anti-narcotics agents posted at the border, specifies a note of the authorities.

The DNCD in collaboration with the security and intelligence agencies stationed in Dajabon have extended their investigations to possibly apprehend other people involved in this traffic.

The seized drug packages were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for appropriate action.

In addition, DNCD officials inform that they have arrested at the border control point of Dajabón an alien who are trying to enter the Dominican territory with two packs of marijuana weighing approximately a pound and a half.
