Haiti - Security : ADIH condemns violence in Arcahaie, PNH reassures...

Following the various attacks of vehicles, vandalism and other violence in recent days in Arcahaie, Georges B. Sassine, President of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), denounces in a note, with vigor these acts which are only worsen day to day https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20303-haiti-flash-violence-to-arcahaie-several-victims-many-damages.html

"[...] Our nation, that seeks so much to rebuild itself, can not afford to take losses.

This situation leads to paralysis at all levels: the residents of this zone can no longer go about their occupations, 4 departments are cut off from the rest of the country and major investments in the area are in danger.

ADIH's position is clear: we are fighting for the survival of small, medium and large domestic, rural and urban industries that generate growth and wealth for the benefit of the population across the country.

Let's show patriotism and common sense! Let's master our violent and destructive reflexes! The right to claim is sacred, but the duty to maintain public order is as sacred! Let's protect our property, protect our citizens, stop destroying, Let's build together!

[...] The government must act quickly if we want to develop the country. Let's act together for the protection of the Nation, the protection of citizens and their property."

Me Kim Sassine, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of West (CCIO) abounds in the same sens "[...] outraged by the destruction and damage to the vehicles, goods and other property in the region over the last few days", recalling that "such tensions cause irreparable damage to trade and tourism in both Arcahaie and to the whole country [...] The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of West urges the public authorities to become involved in the peaceful and prompt resolution of this conflict and to take all the measures provided for by law to ensure the safety of lives and property."

For his part, Inspector Garry Desrosiers, deputy spokesman for the National Police of Haiti (PNH), wanting to be reassuring said on Thursday in a press conference that "the Police has taken all the necessary steps to contribute to the restoration of safety at National Road #1. Specialized units of the police institution such as the Intervention and Preservation Corps (CIMO) are already mobilized at the scene of these acts of violence..."
