Haiti - Politics : Minister Fleurant receives IDB mission

As part of the search for better alignment between the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) country program and the priorities of the Haitian government for the next 5 years, Aviol Fleurant, Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, accompanied by its Director General, Stevenson Jacques Thimoléon and most of the technical directors of the ministry, held two working sessions with an IDB mission headed by Augustin Filippe and Koldo Echebarria respectively.

Minister Fleurant stressed to the IDB the delicate problems of alignment that generally exist between the donors and the Haitian State. As Minister responsible for managing public investments, he pledged to consolidate public finances, a pillar of good governance, which will help reassure foreign donors. Finally, after presenting his roadmap https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20659-haiti-flash-roadmap-to-the-minister-of-planning.html he expressed the wish for better coordination with the IDB in the framework of a sustainable partnership.

At the last working session, Koldo Echebarria of the IDB, after expressing concerns about several unfinished projects, among others the construction in the zone of Port-de-Paix and of Fort Liberté, eiterated the IDB's willingness to align the Bank's Country Program with the priorities of the Government of Haiti, while wishing for better coordination of work with the new Government Moïse-Lafontant.
