Haiti - Switzerland : Inauguration of the new buildings of the Guillaume Manigat National School 31/05/2017 09:14:10
Tuesday, Pierre Josué Agenor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, in the presence of the Swiss Ambassador to Haiti Jean Luc Virchaux, of Delegate of the Swiss Federal Council for Humanitarian Aid, Manuel Bessler and several senior officials of the Swiss Ministry of Cooperation and Swiss Cooperation, inaugurated the new buildings of the Guillaume Manigat National School. The Minister Cadet welcomed the Swiss Cooperation's support for the reconstruction of a dozen schools in the departments of the West and the Nippes, including the Guillaume Manigat School. For the Minister, this new inauguration testifies of the dynamism of the Swiss Cooperation in Haiti in the field of education. He believes that it is necessary to provide the country with adequate school infrastructure and to improve the quality of the knowledge transmitted, while at the same time continuing efforts to improve the teaching status. The Ambassador of Switzerland in Haiti talks of an investment of more than 20 million dollars for the reconstruction of these 12 schools and wants to believe that the National School Guillaume Manigat renovated will serve several generations of students. Let's recall that the Guillaume Manigat National School is a complete fundamental school that include 11 classrooms, including two for preschool. It is also equipped with a library, a computer room, a refectory and a playground. Created under the government of Sténio Vincent (1930-1941), the School has been affected several times by of major natural hazards, in addition to undergoes the wear and tear of time. HL/ HaitiLibre
