The Dominican Directorate General for Migration (DGM) reported that in May 2017, 4,966 citizens from 12 countries who were in an irregular migratory situation on the Dominican territory were repatriated to their country of origin.

According to the agency headed by Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, the repatriated foreigners came mainly from Haiti but also from Armenia, Canada, China, Colombia, Spain, Greece, India, Italy, Panama, Peru and Venezuela. These persons have been arrested during various checking operations throughout the Dominican territory in recent weeks, exceeding the number of expulsions carried out in April 2017 (4,787 foreigners), reflecting according to the statistics trend the progressive rise of deportations.
