In a note the Office of Consumer Protection (OPC) warns the public against the company Voyages Amigo inc. of Montreal, located at 6770 Jarry Street East, local 230, Montreal [...] also doing business as Haiti Charter which would sell plane tickets for flights to Port-au-Prince while not a holder of a travel agent's license.

The OPC recalls that offering travel services without a license from the Office is illegal. Pointing out to consumers "[...] by buying from a business without a license, the customer deprives himself of the financial protections provided for by law. Consumers who have purchased airfare or other services from Haiti Charter and are afraid of being unable to travel are invited to contact the Office ( www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/ ). They will be provided with the information appropriate to their situation so that they are able to exercise recourse, if any."

To avoid losing your money, always check the travel agent's permit
