Haiti - FLASH : Students set fire to Faculty of Ethnology

Monday afternoon, students of the Faculty of Ethnology came to protest against the decision to dismiss several of their colleagues. The impossibility of finding an agreement with the Dean Yves Blot who was then in his vehicle, for the reinstatement of the students sanctioned https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19229-haiti-education-illegal-occupation-ueh-announces-first-sanctions.html and following a slight incident where a student was accidentally overthrown by the Dean's car, the students gave free rein to their anger, burning at least three cars parked in the Faculty and a part of the building that served as reading space and cafeteria.

Barricades of burning tires were erected at the corner of the rue Magloire Ambroise and Saint-Honoré.

The agents of the Body of Intervention and Maintenance of Order (CIMO) intervened to restore order and protect the staff of the Faculty, followed by firefighters who came to circumscribe and extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
