Saturday, Alexandra Izquierdo, Director of the National Statistics Office (Oficina Nacional de Estadísticas (ONE)) revealed that in 2016, the Dominican Republic exported worldwide property worth over 8.7 billion dollars whose 800 $800 million to Haiti, which makes it the second export market for Creole products.

She adds that, according to figures from the Dominican General Directorate of Customs, validated by ONE, the main products sold in Haiti were: T-shirts and underwear (15.93% for 127.44 million US); Cotton fabrics (12.26% for US $ 98.13 million) and prepared products for sauces, as well as prepared sauces (7.67% for 61.37 million).

In 2016, according to the ONE, the main destination of Dominican exports remains the United States with more than $ 4.5 billion (52.57%). In general terms, Dominican exports of goods in 2016 amounted to US $ 8,744 million (FOB) and imports to US $19,582 million (CIF value).

Alexandra Izquierdo, explained that 58.96% of the goods were exported by the Dominican Republic, came from the free zones, 40.59% corresponded to domestic exports and 0.45% remaining to the other customs procedures. In the Top 3 products exported in 2016 are found : gold, 1.6 billion (18.73%); Medical, electromedical, dental and vision instruments 972.64 million (11.12%) and cigarettes, with 656.84 million (7.51%).
