Haiti - ALERT : Medical contract fraud

In a statement, the Cabinet Médical Vital Herne informs doctors and pharmacists in particular and the general public that an individual pretending to be named Dr. Eddy Valério Vital-Herne in order to commit acts of fraud.

"According to the testimony of the victims, this individual pretending to be the son of Dr. Vital-Herne of the pharmacy of the same name proposes a medical contract that he said to be financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Thanks to this scam he manages to obtain a sum of money (in US dollar) supposedly to cover the expenses of file and the allocation of a computer equipment. He also withdrawn, the identity documents of his victims.

A complaint has already been lodged with the Public Prosecutor's Office in Port-au-Prince, which empowers the judicial authorities to do what is right.

These fraudulent acts are detrimental to the image and reputation of Dr. Vital-Herne, his family, his medical office, the Vital-Herne pharmacy and other derived entities.

The Cabinet Médical expresses its regret to the victims while declining its responsibility in these acts, knowing that this acts was also more prejudicial to it.

It calls everybody to vigilance until the investigations initiated shed light on the issue."
