Haiti - Cholera Epidemic : The binational market of Dajabón closed today

The binational market on the border at Dajabón, traditionally held every Tuesday has been suspended by the Public Health and Homeland Security Council (CESFRONT). This decision follows a high number of cases of cholera in the region. The closure order was authorized by Dr. Rafael Salas, Provincial Director of Health and the General of the National Army, Guerrero Clase, Director of CESFRONT.

According to information from Tiroli, a community located next to Restauración in the Province of Dajabón, the cholera would have claimed many victims and the number of infected people would be considerable.

At the same time, the Dominican authorities have installed a monitoring center to help people who frequent the international road. The soldiers of CESFRONT are in a state of alert to cope with possible unexpected situations that may occur on the border area after this closure.
