Haiti - Security : Agreement on search and rescue in the event of an air crash

In the context of modernization and consolidation aimed at strengthening the links between the National Airport Authority (AAN) and the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) Olivier Jean, OFNAC's Director General, and Colonel Irving Mehu, Director General of the AAN, signed a first agreement on Aeronautical Search and Rescue.

Recall that the mission of the AAN is to create and manage all the civil airports of the country while OFNAC is the competent body in the field of aeronautical policy and surveillance of Haitian civil aviation.

These two institutions are linked to issues of sustainable development, safety, security, air traffic control, economic regulation, support for aeronautical construction, general aviation, aeronautical training, etc., in accordance with national legislation and international standards and practices implemented by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The signing of this agreement will facilitate cooperation between the two institutions in the event of an air crash on the national territory. In addition, OFNAC is actively working on the establishment in Haiti of a Coordination and Rescue Center within the next eight weeks, which will be operational since the reception of the signal from the satellite-sensed distress beacon to the end of the emergency.
