Haiti - Economy : Increase in the Haitian ICAE index in the third quarter of 2017

The Global Economic Activity Indicator Index (ICAE - Haiti) for the 3rd quarter (April to June) is estimated at 151.0 compared to 145.0 for the same period in 2016, an increase of 4.2% year on year. In cumulative terms, from October to June 2017, the ICAE increased by 2.1%. which is the result of the upward trend in the three main sectors of the economy.

Let's recall that the Economic Activity Indicator (ICAE-Haiti) is a statistical tool, launched in September 2016 by the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Information (IHSI), which makes it possible to monitor in the very near future the evolution of real sector of the economy. It is an overall indicator that provides short-term information on major trends in gross domestic product (GDP). This type of indicator is widely used in Latin America, but unlike other countries where this indicator is calculated monthly, in the case of Haiti, taking into account the time available for basic sectoral data, the ICAE is calculated quarterly.
