Haiti - North : The MENFP launches a call for calm

The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), deeply alarmed by the strike movements that affect the operation of some high schools in Cap-Haïtien and spontaneous street demonstrations, organized by students that could lead to scuffles with the police, calls for calm and resumption of classes in the schools concerned in order not to penalize students once again.

The MENFP reaffirms its commitments to regularize the situation of teachers in the classroom, not holding a letter of appointment. Thus, the Ministry has already carried out an inventory in the ten school departments which has made it possible to identify the concerned and qualified teachers who will gradually receive their letter of appointment, according to the availabilities in the new budget of the Republic.

The Human Resources Department has been instructed to this end and is working to finalize the teachers' files to be sent to the Primature for approval. It remains clear that the case of teachers, meeting the criteria for the profile, who have been in post for several years, will be the subject of special considerations for their integration into the public service, apart from the new recruitment standards that systematically require the competition entry.

The MENPF therefore appeals to these teachers' understanding and asks them a little patience, since the process of their integration is already started.

In addition, the MENFP made a slight reshuffle for the new calls for candidates for certain positions by reconsidering the age limit of 37 years that was problematic.

The MENFP therefore invites all teachers concerned to continue to supervise students and to avoid systematic strike movements that may have serious consequences for the performance of students in State examinations.
