Yesterday Wednesday at the Pavillon of the School of Police, at the Symposium organized by the General Inspectorate of the National Police of Haiti (IGPNH) for executives of the police institution, Michel-Ange Gédéon, the Director General of the PNH, did not hesitated to raise the tone and threaten the PNH executives for their lack of authority, courage, laxity and absence of sanctions face the recent mistakes and "burrs" made by staff under their authority, saying "It is not under my leadership that the police will take the dead end of impunity."

"Executives of the institution here present,

What do you want to do with this police if you do not punish the anti-social behavior and repeat offenses of the men and women under your command ? The command of the PNH now enjoins you to take your responsibilities otherwise, it is you who will be sanctioned.

It is not under my leadership that the police will take the dead end of impunity. It is not only the General Directorate and the General Inspectorate who can punish the offending police officers. There is a whole range of penalties that are at your level. This is provided in the general discipline manual. You must apply them to the letter at the appropriate time.

I place the blunders and misbehavior of recent days in the permissive style of excessive Command of some, in the context of the consequences of this laissez-faire institutional that could be assimilated to a guarantee of impunity that does not say its name. Today, the consequences are for all of you here, it's for the police in general and it's for the whole country unfortunately. Today, I press the alarm to tell you stop there !

The exercise of Command has never been a function to be loved. It is not reserved either for fearful, careless... Take your responsibilities. Is not a leader who wants. You have to have courage, strength of character and temperament to be a leader. Do not complain to the police officers, ind solutions, establish and maintain communication with them. Tell them about problems without falling into negativity, indignity and cowardice. Remember on all this that in the application of sanctions, the General Inspectorate will now only intervene where the law and the regulations provide for it."
