Haiti - Economy : Comparison of Price at the pump Haiti versus DR

The Ministry of Economy and Finance informs that for the period from 18 to 24 November 2017 the Fuel Prices are always cheaper in Haiti than in the neighboring Republic, if the price difference between the two countries is reduced for the gasoline and kerosene, rising respectively from 71.83 gourdes and 31.78 gourdes (period from 11 to 17 November 2017) to 67.12 gourdes and 31.23 gourdes (period from 17 to 24 November 2017). On the other hand, the difference increased slightly for diesel because of the increase of the price of this product on the Dominican market; from 37.83 gourdes to 38.86 gourdes.

It should be noted the appreciation of the gourde in relation to the Dominican peso: 1.3006 gourdes for 1 pesos (period from 18 to 24 November) against 1.3102 gourdes for 1 pesos (period from 11 to 17 November).

Haiti - Dominican Republic (DR) Fuel Price Difference, period from 18 to 24 Nov 2017 :

Gazoline: 224.00 (HT) versus 291.12 in DR, 67.12 Gdes cheaper in Haiti

Diesel: 179.00 (HT) versus 218.86 in DR, 38.86 Gdes cheaper in Haiti

Kerosene: 173.00 (HT) versus 204.23 in DR, 31.23 Gdes cheaper in Haiti

Obviously this kind of information that aims to demonstrate, that despite increases in fuel prices in Haiti, they remain lower than our neighbors, remains convincing. Indeed, the ministry forgets to specify that the increases in fuel prices in Haiti weigh much more heavily on the budget of Haitian citizens whose average income "per capita" is 5 times lower than that of the Dominicans...
