"Given the misunderstanding created by erroneous information received by the majority of Haitian and foreign media (1) and after the multiple appeals that I have received to make the point on the question, I want to clarify that on 3 February, I did not sign the document relating to the final results of the first round of the presidential and legislative elections of 28 November 2010.

This precision is important, given my public positions on a proposal for desirable approach, to an output of the post-electoral crisis in Haiti. If I do not dispute the new classification of presidential candidates who reflect - according to a critical mass of voters, observers and political analysts - the vote of the greatest number ; however, I believe that the process used to give the final judgment on the challenges has not exhausted the process that would, in a spirit of honesty, to reconcile both: a taking into account, relative and appropriate of the technical consultations provided by the Experts of the OAS, the observance of Haitian law (contentious followed by the verification of the tabulation etc.) and in particular, the respect of the national sovereignty."
