Haiti - Diaspora : Message from the Consul of Chicago 27/12/2017 07:35:34
Lesly Condé, the Consul General of Haiti in Chicago, expresses to the Haitian community "his wishes for Merry Christmas 2017 and Happy New Year 2018". Consul Condé reminds the compatriots of Chicago and all the Midwest as well as the friends of Haiti, that the 1st and 2nd of January 2018 bring back respectively the 214th anniversary of our National Independence and the "Jour des Aïeux". On this occasion, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Consular Mission invite the brothers and sisters of the community to a solemn mass to be celebrated on Monday, January 1st at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace located at 7801 South Jeffery (Chicago). After the religious ceremony a reception will be offered in the basement of the Church. This invitation extends to the faithful of all religious denominations. On Saturday, January 6, the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti, the Consular Mission and other local organizations invite all compatriots to a large community gathering to be held from 5:00 pm at the Family Focus 2010 Dewey, Evanston (Illinois). On the program: message from the Consul General and other speakers, songs, poems, musical entertainment etc... The traditional soup with giraumon will be served and a memory of our dear Haiti given to all those present. We will take this opportunity to honor the memory of the victims of the 2010 earthquake. "The Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago encourages members of our large family to come and demonstrate their national pride and solidarity by welcoming the New Year in harmony and respect."
