On Monday, the President of the Republic of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika sent a congratulatory message to President Jovenel Moïse, on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of Haiti, in which he renewed his availability to work to strengthen ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

"The celebration of the National Day of your country gives me the pleasant opportunity to address, on behalf of the people and the Algerian Government and in my personal name, our warm congratulations and my wishes for health and happiness for you, of progress and prosperity for the friendly people of Haiti," wrote the Algerian head of state, adding in his message "I also take this opportunity to renew my readiness to work to strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity between our two countries and to promote their cooperation in all areas of common interest."
