Haiti - FLASH : 2,000 Haitians repatriated from the Dominican Republic in 3 days

General Frugis Martinez, Director of the Terrestrial Border Security Specialized Corps (CESFRONT) of the border area of Dajabón, indicated that in the first three days of 2018, more than 2,000 undocumented Haitians were arrested and returned to Haiti after failing in their attempt to illegally enter the Dominican territory.

Martinez who leads the border surveillance operation "Shield 2018" which has just been reinforced at the end of December https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23139-haiti-flash-the-dominican-soldiers-deploy-the-great-means-at-the-border.html in anticipation of a wave of illegal Haitians planned by Dominican intelligence, said the arrests of Haitian nationals were carried out during several joint operations of the army (land, sea and air) at various points of the border, stating that the last arrests in the North took place in the sectors of Aviación, Tamarindo, Copey, Matas de Santa Cruz, Cañongo and Los Miches, and the provinces of Montecristi and Dajabón, while other others were carried out on Elías Piña, Jimaní, Barahona, Pedernales among others...

He explained that the Haitians were transported by truck to authorized shelters at the border, where they were handed over to the Directorate General of Migration responsible for their return to Haiti after identification.
