Haiti - Tourism : Minister Menos signs an agreement with Airbnb

Wednesday, Colombe Emilie Jessy Menos the Minister of Tourism (MDT) and Shawn Sullivan and Carlos Munez representing Airbnb, the community platform for renting and booking homes between individuals, signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in various fields, including the promotion of Haiti as a tourist destination through specific marketing initiatives and digital campaigns.

Colombe Emilie Jessy Menos the Minister of Tourism reminded that following a meeting held on the sidelines of "Haiti Tech Summit" in June 2017 "the officials of Airbnb and myself, have decided this protocol in order to offer to all Haitian owning a house, a smartphone and a bank account, to be able to register their home on the Airbnb platform and possibly rent it to tourists or visitors in Haiti, for a period not exceeding 120 days."

Shawn Sullivan, emphasized the ease of the registration process "everyone who owns a house or housing and wanting to rent his property to register on the platform. The process is as easy as registering on social networks and the required documents are a national ID, photos of the house and information about the price of the night, the latter being defined by the owner of the house."

Under the terms of this Memorandum, the two parties also undertake to train Haitian citizens in the use of the Airbnb platform. Recall Airbnb has more than 2 million users for hosting in 65,000 cities in 191 countries.
