Haiti - Politic : Fire at Hippolyte Market first government aid to merchants

Thursday in the gardens of the Primature, 10 days after the fire of Hippolyte Market (Iron Market) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23556-haiti-flash-the-iron-market-ravaged-by-a-fire.html , the Interministerial Commission https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23610-haiti-politic-towards-a-support-of-victims-of-the-hyppolite-market-fire.html responsible for accompanying the victims, proceeded to the distribution of aid to the merchants concerned.

This distribution took place in an atmosphere of solidarity, in the presence of the Ministers Pierre Marie Du Meny (Commerce) also President of the Commission, Ms Stepanie Auguste (Social Affairs), Ms Eunide Innocent (Status of Women), Ambassador of Taiwan in Port-au-Prince, William Chen-Hao Hu and Directors General Chesnel Pierre (National Old Age Insurance Office - ONA) and Woodly Simon (Social Assistance Fund - CAS).

The 200 affected merchants have benefited from a first intervention of the Government and each received a food kit and financial assistance of 20,000 gourdes.

The Minister Pierre Marie du Meny, asked the merchants not to worry, that the Government is moving forward in the economic phase by offering them this allowance, waiting to move to the structural phase for the recovery of their economic activities

According to the Interministerial Commission, the merchants identified will benefit in the structural phase of loans from the ONA and the Development and Investment Fund (FDI) at preferential rates and a grace period, as well as financial support from the Social Assistance Fund (CAS) to enable them to resume their commercial activities.

Many of these merchants did not hide their satisfaction with the Government's commitment, which, unlike similar situations in the past under previous governments, did not take too much time to react.
