Haiti - Aristide : A return that could take some time...

While in Haiti, the supporters of former President Jean Bertrand Aristide are in preparation for his return, as if their leader, should arrive today at the airport, it seems that in South Africa, that the process leading to his return, may take some time...

The South African authorities confirmed that they cooperate at the return to Haiti of Jean-Bertrand Aristide, who is in exile in their country since his ouster in February 2004. Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Foreign Minister of South Africa said that his government was in contact with relevant agencies to manage various aspects of travel of the former president and his family "We are consulting with all interested parties to facilitate his return back home at the appropriate time" has declared the Chancellor, without specifying a date, recalling only that these procedures are performed in response to the demand of Aristide to leave the South Africa.

The South African Minister has took care to not to specify who are these "competent institutions and these stakeholders" but it is likely that the United States are part of these unidentified stakeholders.
