Haiti - Education : The UEH ready to ease sanctions under certain conditions...

In a note published Thursday, the Executive Board of the State University of Haiti (UEH) consider easing the sanctions against students involved in the crisis, if the protesters immediately suspend their hunger strike. The Council also poses as a condition that students must recognize that they can not express their demands through the use of expletives and physical attacks, and must commit at the same time to no longer reoffend. "physical or verbal aggression are unacceptable, intolerable and reprehensible within the the university" indicate the responsibles of the UEH.

Moreover the Council announces that an ad hoc commission will be formed in order to study the case of certain entities of the UEH including the Faculty of Ethnology, "whose the institutional situation, deserves urgent adjustments". The Faculty of Ethnology undergoes a serious internal crisis since July, 2010 after a brutal clash between the Vice-Dean Jean Yves Blot, and one of his students. The Vice Dean says he was physically assaulted, a version contested by some students.
