Haiti - Social : Road users in hostage by the strike of OAVCT

The Office of Citizen Protection (OPC) notes with consternation that the strike started since Monday, April 2, 2018 by employees of the Office of Insurance against Vehicles Third Party (OAVCT) "has caused the paralysis of certain administrative activities within this institution bearing prejudices to drivers whose insurance policies have expired without any means of renewal, but also to road users, who may at any time be victims of a traffic accident."

Faced with this situation, the OPC asks the Director General of the Haitian National Police to take all necessary measures "to prevent the beneficiary groups affected by this strike from being both victims of an administrative problem and of the incomprehension of some agents of the PNH concerning the impossibility of renewal of insurance policies."

The OPC suggests to the Directorate of the PNH to temporarily prohibit the agents to punish drivers whose insurance policies have expired from Thursday, March 29, 2018, until the resolution of this conflict and resumption of normal OAVCT activities.
