The Digicel Foundation inaugurated this week its 176th school "The National School Congregational Saint Gerard" in Bainet in the Southeast.

This school, built according to international paraseismic and para-cyclonic standards, is an extension of the only congregational school in the region. It is run by the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Christ the King who have been supervising the community of Bainet for more than fifty years.

This extension, which includes 6 classrooms, an administration and a sanitary block, will welcome the students of the 3rd cycle of the institution who were often obliged to go to Jacmel to continue their studies after the 6th Year Fundamental.

At the same time, the Digicel Foundation started in the various departments, distributing checks to the 11 winning organizations of the 1st edition of the "Konbit Pou Chanjman" campaign. Each organization received a check of 700,000 Gourdes for the completion of the submitted project. In total, the organizations received 7.7 million gourdes whose payments will be spread over three installments : one at the beginning of the project and the two others after evaluation visits.
