iciHaiti - Politic : Meeting between Minister Fleurant and the new head of OCHA

Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, received this week the visit of Salima Mokrani, the new head of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Haiti.

This first meeting was an opportunity for Mokrani to express her understanding of the humanitarian situation in Haiti and to present the prospects for the future.

Minister Fleurant recalled that the wish of the political administration Moïse / Lafontant is the transition from humanitarian to development explaining "This goal can not be achieved without implementing the 2005 Paris Declaration on the effectiveness of development aid. This requires the alignment of humanitarian sector actions with the priorities of the government, included in the sectoral ministries' roadmaps "

This fruitful meeting allowed the two parties, to expose the problems, to discuss the issues taking into account that Haiti has a vulnerability index of 12.9 on a scale of 13 and to identify the prospects of an emerging Haiti by 2030.
