Haiti - Politic : Minister Delva condemns the violence against the workers

Wednesday in press conference, Guyler C. Delva, the Minister of Communication, strongly condemned, the acts of violence and vandalism, recorded during the two days of demonstrations of the workers of the outsourcing sector (May 21 and 22 ) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-24460-icihaiti-strike-workers-attacked-in-textile-factories.html

Recalling that during these demonstrations organized by the unions of the outsourcing sector, radical individuals forced their way into the factory to force workers to join the demonstrations, stressing that "this kind of negative action only endangers workers and may dampen investment momentum in the country, while efforts are being made to increase the number of workers in this sector."

Delva urged subcontract workers to remain calm, saying that President Jovenel Moïse will respect his promises to accompany these workers through social programs and that the Government intends to return the taxes levied to the benefit of the most vulnerable.

Moreover, the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) which abounds in the same sense recalls "[...] at a time when our country is facing so many difficulties and can not revive its economy to create jobs and meet the needs of the population, one may wonder why institutions that say they want to defend the interests of workers, put themselves to violent behavior that frighten our fellow citizens as well as foreign investors and Haitians ? This kind of situation risks stopping investment momentum and pushing the country further into the path of misery and job loss.

This exceptional law, HOPE / HELP, which benefits Haiti, is the envy of all countries in Asia and Central America wishing to have the same benefits as us. It is important to pull ourselves together in order to condemn together these violent, destructive and intolerable behaviors to help put the country back on the track of development [...]"
