Haiti - Justice : Release of a Chief of Gang of Grande Ravine

After having suspended for more than two months the order made by the examining magistrate Bredy Fabien in favor of the release of the chief of gang of Grand-Ravine, Saint-Jean Romélien, also known under the name of Junior Decimus aka "Tèt Kale, "the Port-au-Prince Government Commissioner, Clamé-Ocnam Daméus, finally ordered in his late conclusions dated June 8, the release of Chief of Gang" "Complying with the order made by the investigating judge, magistrate Brédy Fabien dated March 21, 2018, the Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince requires the director of the prison administration to release, as of receptions of this the named Saint-Jean Romélien, aka 'Tèt kale'," one reads in his conclusions.

Daméus explains that after issuing a stayed on May 3 of the order of Judge Fabien he found that no new complaint, grievance or denunciation were filed during this period against Saint-Jean Romélien in the registers opened for this purpose and he judged that it was necessary to execute the order of the investigating cabinet and to confirm the order of release.

Pierre Espérance, the Executive Director of the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH), points to the political hands hidden behind this decision to release this gang leader.

Remember that Saint Jean Romélien was arrested at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in December https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19420-haiti-flash-arrest-of-the-dangerous-gang-leader-junior-decimus.html by agents of the Bureau of Anti-Trafficking in Drugs (BLTS) as he was preparing to leave the country to go to Mexico and charged with suspicion of assassination, attempted murder, detention and illegal port firearm.
