The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) carried out a vast operation that lasted three days in different municipalities and sectors of the province of Puerto Plata. The interception teams, composed of agents and inspectors of the DGM, as well as members of the Air Command of the Dominican Air Force, the National Police and representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office intervened in particular in Altamira, Guananico, La Isabela, Luperón, Sosúa and other areas of the urban area of ​​the Province located in the north of the country.

During the 72 hours that this operation lasted, 511 Haitians were controlled. After biometric verification with the central database, 367 compatriots in an irregular migration situation were taken to the Dajabón border post to be registered and deported to Haiti. 3 other Haitians were sent to the national police for possession of small arms and narcotics and two others were put under investigation by the Migration Service.

This well tested scenario looks increasingly of Haitian tracking operations as routine control on the street. Real small military operations, based on a logistics of intelligence and denunciations of citizens to locate the Haitians and deployment and surprise intervention on the ground of several teams simultaneously to prevent the Haitians to warn each other during control operations.

Note that in recent months, the DGM has conducted 27 such interdiction operations in the same number of provinces, in addition to the routine work of the agency in charge of controlling the illegal entry of Haitians at the borders.
