Haiti - Economy : Next budget 175 billion gourdes, up 21%

Thursday, June 28, 2 days before the deadline prescribed in the Constitution (June 30), Jude Alix Patrick Salomon, the Minister of Economy and Finance, accompany Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning has formally submitted to the two Chambers of the Parliament, the amending budget 2017-2018 and the new draft Finance Law 2018-2019 (next budget starting October 1, 2018).

The 2017-2018 amending budget rose from 144 billion to 155 billion gourdes while the next draft budget law 2018-2019 provides revenues of 175 billion gourdes. (31 billion more than the non-rectified budget 2017-2018 ie + 21%)

To obtain these important increases in revenue, Minister Salomon relies among others on the respect of the payment of property taxes, particularly on the coast and on the reinforcement of customs controls in the fight against smuggling.

Regarding the increase in the prices of petroleum products, the Minister boot touches just satying that the decree of 1995 sets the rules of the game in terms of price at the pump, saying that the Government is not in a logic of grant. It is no illusion to be done on these increases, especially as the gains from these future additional oil revenues, are already taken into account in the Finance Bill 2018-2019.
