Wednesday at a press conference, Renan Michel, the Director of the National Bureau of State Examinations (BUNEXE) and Louis Fritz Dorminvil Departmental Director of West Education (DDEO) gave an update on the situation around the correction process of copies of candidates at State examinations.

Renan Michel explained that the correction process starts with the implementation of BUNEXE in the different copy preparation centers. Before the correction, the texts of the candidates pass the process of "stumpage" which makes anonymous each copy of candidate, which will be accompanied by a correction slip attached to the sheet where the marker will affix his note after evaluation.

In total, there are 11 Correction Centers across the country. 2 in the West (Lycée Cent-Cinquantenaire and Caroline Chauveau) and one in each metropolitan area of ​​the 9 other departments. The West Department hosts the largest workforce with more than 60% of the candidates to evaluates.

Dorminvil said "[...] the correctors were recruited on the basis of their qualifications, skills and seniority. They are teachers who are currently teaching in private or public schools, confirmed by the responsible of the schools concerned with a certificate in support. Nothing is left to chance because it is above all to protect the interests of the candidates that is to say to evaluate the copies with a sense of seriousness and responsibility. In addition of supervisors can at any time make a counter-evaluation to check for the smooth running of the process and the quality of the correction. Each sheet undergoes two corrections with two different correctors. For any difference of 26 points, the candidate's sheet undergoes a third correction to find the right measure."

Asked about special cases, Renan Michel said "out of more than 3,000 cases analyzed, only 262 meet the criteria to be taken into account" emphasizing "In addition, we must find a registration file for those candidates whose records are correct. Only cases meeting the standards will therefore be taken into account in the correction process."
