In a note, the Deputy of Delmas Gary Bodeau (Shield), President of the Lower House, in front of the chaotic situation and the riots that shake the country asks for an emergency meeting between the 3 powers of the State, underlining the insufficiency of the withdrawal of the decision to increase the price of fuel at the pump "in view of the disastrous consequences that its announcement has caused to the Haitian people, the business class and peaceful citizens."

"[...] in my capacity as President of one of the branches of the legislature co-depository of national sovereignty, I request the holding, without delay, of an emergency meeting between the executive, judicial and legislative powers in order to restore the confidence of the people in its elected representatives who are its authentic and legitimate representatives while taking into account the interests of the valiant populations of the ten geographical departments of the country and those of the diaspora.

Meanwhile, I would ask the people who, in a patriotic jolt aimed at upholding its inalienable and imprescriptible rights, had took the streets, to recover and respect private property, the lives of people, until the constituted authorities, its representatives and the great powers of the State, could agree a definitive solution to this crisis born of the price adjustment at the pump since the salvation of the people is their supreme law.

Moreover, in order to meet the new challenges of the time, the interpellation session of Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant hitherto in continuation, will be resumed shortly in the Haitian Parliament."
