Haiti - Culture : The month of July dedicated to the memory of Nemours Jean Baptiste

The Ministry of Culture declared the month of July, month of Nemours Jean Baptiste and organizes during this month a set of activities (Conferences, debates, concerts, competitions...) to pay tribute to the father of the music Compass, legendary figure of Haitian music, saxophonist, composer and leader of musical band Nemours Jean Baptiste "Culture is the soul, it is the wealth of the country. We need to showcase this richness," said Guyler C. Delva, Minister of Culture.

July 26 will be declared National Compass Day in Haiti and in this circumstance, a bust of Nemours Jean Baptiste will be unveiled on Place Sainte-Anne.

In the process, the Minister Delva took the opportunity to announce other projects, including that of the "Slave Route", a project initiated under the Minister Stéphanie Villedrouin in 2014 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-10622-haiti-news-some-news-here-and-there.html that he plans to launch in 2019 highlighting "More than any other people, this subject must challenge us.
